Why is it important to refresh first aid training knowledge?

Dynamo Training Solutions state that First Aid is a valuable life skill. When these skills are effectively used, they may in fact save a life.

First Aid has the potential of making a valuable difference in a life and death situation- this could be from performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on a nonbreathing casualty, to recognising a serious condition such as a stroke, or by simply being confident enough to contact the emergency services.

Any first aid training, when taught well, is an engaging subject, which highlights a vast array of conditions, injuries, and immediate treatments. These conditions may require prompt, effective treatment. A major problem with first aid skills is that the majority of people will do their course and wait for another three years before doing the course again. How many of the essential skills would have been forgotten in that time? How many things may have changed in that time? The Heath and Safety Executive (HSE) recommends that first aiders refresh their knowledge every 12 months as a minimum, just to ensure that the person's skills and knowledge are refreshed. Dynamo Training Solutions firmly believe that all learners should refresh their first-aid knowledge periodically - and we emphasize this in all of our first-aid

courses.

Does refresher training need to be classroom based? No, there are many ways to refresh your knowledge of first aid. This includes Zoom calls, online platforms, workbooks, or even just a read of an up-to-date. training manual. By simply refreshing first aid knowledge, an individual may in fact be able to save a life- which surely is the purpose of first aid?

Dynamo Training Solutions really encourage all of our first aid learners to undertake refresher training, and we provide learners with free resources to ensure their skills and knowledge are kept up to date. We believe up-to-date knowledge will help to save a life.
